Family Law: Ever-changing and Evolving

Our world is rapidly modernizing before our eyes, as is our Family Court system in both NSW and greater Australia. Before 2020, there was a fervent distinction between Australia’s Family Court and the Federal Circuit Court, each having their own rules, procedures and systems, causing widespread confusion and disorganization. Last year saw a shift from this, to an amalgamation of rules and case management, with a group specific to the task already underway.

The start of the new decade also brought with it a series of new finance schemes to protect both vulnerable women as well as families within the Family Court system. These schemes will introduce methods for the division of assets and other family separation issues in a cost and time effective manner. These schemes not only unburden the Court system, but help to protect personal and familial relationships through the use of Alternate Dispute Resolution.

These new measures aim to benefit all kinds of families, both parents and children, wives and husbands, de facto partners, and ensure that assets and emotions are supported.
