Family Law Court Proceedings and COVID-19

While the COVID-19 global pandemic has been a truly unprecedented and distressing time for many, a piece of news to take solace in is the seamless and stress-free transition the NSW Family Court has made in sustaining court proceedings’ procedural fairness while also abiding by COVID-19 restrictions and health measures. In all NSW and higher Australian courts, there has been a back log of cases and matters to be heard due to the pandemic, and while this has also pertained to the Family Court, parties and workers from the Family Court have relayed successes from all areas, from just fairness to greater community reach for legal services.

While it is a central aim to keep children out of courts, it may not always be possible. With the knowledge that NSW’s Family Court is at the forefront of COVID-19 safety procedures, parties who ultimately have to attend matters in this sphere can be relieved of one less concern.
